T400 Controller Facilities Manual
667/EB/20200/000 Page 9-16 Issue 9
A ‘PX bit simulates a pedestrian demand.
(b) Hold Vehicle Stage (PV)
A ‘PV’ bit holds the vehicle stage and inhibits the serving of pedestrian demands. Any
pedestrian demands inserted during this period will be served when thePV bit is
removed.
9.3.6(b) Reply Bits
(a) Pedestrian Reply (GX)
A ‘GX’ bit may be returned to indicate that the vehicle stage is at green.
9.3.7 Methods of Control
There are two options which govern the method of control depending on which
Department of Transport Specification is to be met:
- Option 1, i.e. MCE 0105/0106
- Option 2, i.e. TCD 316
Figure 21.14 indicates where to specify the option required.
The following is a summary of the stage movements for each option. For a fuller
description the relevant specification should be consulted.
Option 1
Under Option 1, a stage change will not occur unless theF’ bit for the current stage is
lifted and there is an ‘F’ bit (with a demand if necessary) for the next stage.
Option 2
Under Option 2, all stages are demand and extension dependent. A stage change will
not occur unless there are no extensions for the current stage or the ‘F’ bit is lifted and
there is a demand for the next stage with or without an ‘F’ bit.
9.3.8 UTC Mode Conditions
See Figure 21.14.
Any one of three conditions may be used to indicate UTC control:
(i) Force bits present - any one of the ‘F’ bits present.
(ii) Force bits and TC/TO present - any one of the ‘F’ bits and ‘TC’ or
‘TO’ present.
(iii) TC/TO present - any control bit and ‘TC’ or ‘TO’ present.
