7.4 Replacing a module
CP 343-1
56 Manual, 10/2012, C79000−G8976−C201-07
● Upgrading
(module replacement with compatible functions)
Describes the situation when the module described here can be used instead of an older
module as long as adaptations are made to the configuration. Here, the previously used
CP needs to be replaced in the configuration by the new CP.
Unless otherwise specified, the range of functions of the older module continues to be
supported.
You can also upgrade modules listed in "Module replacement". This is necessary when new
characteristics that were not available in the previously used module are required.
7.4.2 Module replacement / upgrading
Replacing a module
The CP 343-1 (6GK7 343-1EX30-0XE0) described here can be used as a replacement for
the following predecessor products:
● CP 343-1 (6GK7 343-1EX10-0XE0)
*)
● CP 343-1 (6GK7 343-1EX11-0XE0)
*)
● CP 343-1 (6GK7 343-1EX20-0XE0)
● CP 343-1 (6GK7 343-1EX21-0XE0)
**)
● CP 343-1 (6GK7 343-1EX30-0XE0) firmware version V2.x
*) If one of these older device types is replaced, remember that the AUI interface is no longer
available with the new CPs. To link to a current CP to an AUI network, use the media
converter SCALANCE X101-1 AUI (6GK5 101-1BX00-2AA3).
**) With the current CP, note the changed number of possible connections and the lower
PROFINET IO configuration limits as well as the absence of support for PROFINET CBA
compared with the device type EX21.
Upgrading
The following predecessor products can be upgraded on the CP 343-1
(6GK7 343-1EX30-0XE0) described here: Refer to modules in "Replacing modules".
The CP 343-1 (EX30) can be used along with a dummy module SM370
(6ES7 370-0AA01-0AA0) in any double width slot of an existing S7-300 rack. The SM370
dummy module has a switch on the rear that you need to set to the position "NA" in this
case.
